There has been a lot of conversation around Teyana Taylor’s new album K.T.S.E. (Keep That Same Energy) but it is important to keep in mind that whatever the case maybe, it’s still a solid effort.
Teyana revealed earlier this month that an updated version of her album with the missing pieces back in their place will not be released as planned earlier and she will instead offer them via music videos in the near future. Following that, the G.O.O.D. Music singer did some press on Hot 97 and Power 105 where she expressed her disappointment at the way the album came out as some verses and sounds were missing, much to her surprise.
Teyana specifically mentioned that she expected her album rollout to include a single and some videos but it didn’t happen. Well, G.O.O.D. Music and Def Jam have now decided to pick track #2 ‘Gonna Love Me’ as the first official single from the album. It will be pushed on streaming services and radio this week, HHNM can confirm. It’s a great choice but is it too late? Or is it the case of better late than never? Only time will tell if the single’s success is able to extend the album’s run on the charts.
A few days ago, Teyana clarified her thoughts through Instagram, making sure fans understand her perspective on the album’s rollout. “After 5 years of patience I could have anticipated the culture would be hurt that all I had to offer them was 23 mins,” she said. “Though a shortened version shocked me upon its released date I appreciate my brother Ye for helping me produce my most vulnerable, personal and soulful album to date,” she continued.
