Nicki Minaj Picks ‘Barbie Dreams’ As Next Single From ‘Queen’

When Nicki Minaj released her new album Queen, the track that had the internet buzzing was ‘Barbie Dreams’.

On the song, Nicki jokes about sleeping and messing around with several men in the industry including 50 Cent, Meek Mill and Drake. ‘Barbie Dreams’ is Nicki Minaj’s interpolation of The Notorious B.I.G.’s ‘Dreams (Just Playing)’ and it’s done in a way that most people have appreciated.

Since some listeners were calling it a “diss” towards all the people mentioned on the song, Nicki had to clarify that the names are actually the ones she likes in real life. “You guys know ‘Barbie Dreams’ is not a diss, right?,” she said on Queen radio on Beats 1. “It’s just some funny shit. I love them. I said things about people who I know can take a joke and won’t be emotional about it. Reading the reactions to ‘Barbie Dreams’ is f*cking hilarious. Everyone is saying how disrespectful ‘Barbie Dreams’ is, and that’s why I f*cking love it.” She also explained the concept on her Twitter.

The reaction to the track has perhaps encouraged Nicki and her labels to pick it as the next official single from Queen. The song will impact radio stations later this week, HHNM can reveal and hopefully there will be a music video as well in the near future. Do you think it’s a good choice?

Nicki also joked about the song on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Watch it below. Earlier today (Monday), she released the music video for the album opener, ‘Ganja Burns’.
