Talent Agency CAA Drops Kanye As a Client, MRC Scraps Completed Documentary About Rapper

Kanye West’s talent agency CAA has dropped Kanye West as a client.

After UTA CEO Jeremy Zimmer on Sunday night addressed an internal message to the entire firm decrying antisemitism and urging a boycott of Kanye, word of CAA dismissing the rapper has emerged today. He had recently switched back to CAA after a year as a UTA client.

West’s Twitter and Instagram accounts have been in trouble as a result of his provocative comments regarding Jews in recent weeks. Antisemitic protesters gathered on a 405 Freeway bridge in Los Angeles on Sunday and displayed banners in support of him.

Various businesses have called on all companies that work with the rap mogul to cut ties with him after he tweeted he wanted to go “death con 3″ on Jewish people.

Additionally, MRC studio execs Modi Wiczyk, Asif Satchu, and Scott Tenley said in a memo on Monday that a finished documentary on Ye will be shelved in light of his most recent antisemitic remarks.

“This morning, after discussion with our filmmakers and distribution partners, we made the decision not to proceed with any distribution for our recently completed documentary about Kanye West. We cannot support any content that amplifies his platform,” they wrote. “Kanye is a producer and sampler of music. Last week he sampled and remixed a classic tune that has charted for over 3,000 years — the lie that Jews are evil and conspire to control the world for their own gain.”

“The silence from leaders and corporations when it comes to Kanye or antisemitism in general is dismaying but not surprising. What is new and sad, is the fear Jews have about speaking out in their own defense,” they added.

A couple of days ago, news of Kanye starting his own mini-city called ‘Yecosystem’ came out. He later clarified that the name is not final.
