j cole announces third studio album1 500x500

J. Cole fans are all aware of the huge hiatuses that the MC from the Ville takes between his albums. Since Born Sinner we’ve received not much more than a leftover from the album with his first mentor Filthe Ritch, a tribute track to young black men dying and some verses over other people’s songs. However, that time is over.

As J. Cole Nation initially speculated, J. Cole will be releasing his third album 2014 Forest Hills Drive on December 9th in just over 3 weeks. Above is the official artwork and we know that the project is going to be 13 songs.

Check out a 7 minute trailer for the album where Cole takes us right back to his roots after the break. For those of you that don’t know, 2014 Forest Hills Drive is actually the address which he grew up at.

We can’t wait!

aj calloway marie free wright bet 106 park

In very disappointing news, BET has announced that one of it’s most popular shows 106 & Park will soon become a digital only program. The primetime music countdown show will have its final on-air show on December 19th and from there will become a digital program via BET.com. Here’s what BET said about the decision in their official statement:

“It’s been a great 14 year run as America’s top music/variety show on cable. And now that very valuable brand is going to take its talents to the digital realm. The interactive brand you helped build, 106 & Park, is alive and well…and it’s moving to the space in which our audience NOW interacts with music the most; online. It’ll be very exciting to connect with the millions of people that are already engaged with 106 & Park and other BET digital and social media entities and bring content that will further evolve the 106 & Park brand…and enhance the overall BET Networks brand. As we transition to the digital space, we look to continue 106 & Park’s role as both a leader of and a mirror to youth culture. We’ll have more information to share about how that is to roll out very soon.”

106 & Park changed the game in more ways then one and this news is quite disheartening. Though, it’s good to know the 106 & Park brand isn’t going anywhere, just changing directions. Read BET President Stephen Hill’s full statement below.
