Azealia Banks Says Def Jam Has Blocked Her Iggy Azalea Collaboration

Back in June, it was reported that Azealia Banks and Iggy Azalea have ended their nearly 6 year feud. This is after Iggy posted a lengthy message on her Snapchat saying “As a 27 year old adult woman just know: I wish you well from one human to another and joke. Collaboration or not as adults we should move past trivial beef with strangers.”

Banks had later confirmed that she’s in talks with Iggy Azalea about a collaboration which could end up on the latter’s forthcoming new album Digital Distortion. Iggy has been struggling to get a proper launch for the album following a couple of failed attempts, even though the last single ‘Switch‘ featuring Anitta was quite a bop. And now it looks like Def Jam has had enough of putting effort into Iggy as an artist.

Fans had been asking both female rappers about the much awaited collab and earlier today, Banks finally gave in to provide an answer. Posting on her Instagram story, Azealia Banks said that the song will not happen because Def Jam is not “releasing anymore singles for her.” Looks like she’s tried to make it happen but Iggy’s label is not interested in investing in her.

It will be interesting to see where the Australian rapper goes from this point. Will she become an artist with just one album released? Or will she fight her way out of the Def Jam contract to head to another situation? Let’s wait and watch.
