UPDATE (Oct. 16): The official music video has been released today, which is directed by Colin Tilley. Last week, the track made history by shooting to #1 on the iTunes charts within three hours of release and making Kris Wu the first Chinese recording artist to reach #1 on iTunes.
Previous story (Oct 12):
Chinese-born Canadian singer Kris Wu has released his new single ‘Deserve’ where he’s teamed up with Travis Scott.
The new single is Wu’s first song of the year and he will hope that it matches or betters the success of his single ‘July’ from last year which reached number 2 on the Chinese singles chart. In an interview with Beats 1, Wu revealed that he and Scott recorded ‘Deserve’ in studio together, despite usually being continents apart. “I’m based out still in China, in Beijing, but I try to fly out every time when I make music,” said Wu, after revealing the duo recorded the track in Los Angeles. “I think it’s so important that you want to be in the room with these people making music together, because that’s what it’s all about. Especially hip-hop music, because you have to be vibing.”
