After two pushbacks, the Ashanti and Keyshia Cole VERZUZ battle finally went down on Thursday night. It followed the epic Bay Area VERZUZ between E-40 and Too Short from last month.
After the earlier pushback due to Ashanti catching Covid-19 and the general pandemic situation in the country, they decided to hold this edition remotely and not at the same venue as some of the previous ones have gone down. Keyshia Cole arrived quite late to her room but in the end, it went off pretty smoothly with about a 1 million people tuning in for the matchup from around the world.
The competition started with Keyshia playing ‘I Changed My Mind’ and Ashanti countering with ‘Happy’ off her much acclaimed and successful debut album. Keyshia then played ‘I Should Have Cheated’ while Ashanti fought back with ‘The Way That I Love You’. From there on, Keyshia played tracks like ‘Enough of No Love’ (with Lil Wayne), ‘Shoulda Let You Go’, ‘Playa Cardz Right’ (with 2Pac), ‘Love’, ‘Trust and Believe’, ‘You Complete Me’, and ‘Heaven Sent’ among others. Ashanti was in a mood for winning as she came with ‘What’s Luv?’, ‘Baby’, ‘Only U’, ‘Rain On Me’, ‘Ain’t It Funny (Murder Remix)’, ‘Southside’ (with Lloyd), ‘Rock With U (Awww Baby)’, ‘Happy’, ‘Always on Time’ and more.
Keyshia: “Ciroc aint cut me no check”
Ashanti: “They gave me one”

We definitely think Ashanti took home the winner trophy but we’re sure some fans disagree. In case you missed the live stream on Apple Music or Instagram, you can watch the full replay below. If you’re a TIDAL user, they have a nice playlist of all the records played during the event.
