NBA Youngboy Says He Wants to Stop Being a “Slave” to Atlantic Records

NBA Youngboy did a rare interview with DJ Akademiks where he opened up about his current legal situation, new music, record label and much more.

The conversation happened on Tuesday night on Clubhouse where thousands of fans tuned in to listen to what the young rapper had to say. When it came to his label situation, YB openly said that he wants to stop being a “slave” to Atlantic Records. He added that he doesn’t see a big check from his label for the numbers he puts up.

The Baton Rouge rapper also said that he plans to leave Atlantic after delivering one more album and that he hardly sees any money from his YouTube streams. As we know, NBA Youngboy is one of the most streamed artists on YouTube so it’s understandable that he isn’t happy with the percentage mentioned in his contract.

Later in the chat, NBA Youngboy said he wants to become a “free agent” and own his masters after leaving Atlantic so he can have a “retirement” plan. Listen to the clip below.

NBA Youngboy’s last studio album Sincerely, Kentrell was released in September and topped the Billboard 200 in the debut week. He recently put out a compilation album Never Broke Again Vol. 1 through his new deal with Motown.
