UPDATE: Wayne’s manager Cortez Bryant has clarified that his announcement on stage was only referring to him signing up as an artist owner with Tidal:
“The Internet and blogs took his words out of context,” Bryant tells Billboard. “When Wayne was speaking about the partnership with Jay Z, he was speaking about his new deal as an artist owner with Tidal.”
Last night Lil Wayne performed at KMEL Summer Jam in the Bay area and had a very special announcement to make for the crowd.
When ‘Glory‘ dropped exclusively on Tidal, a lot of people were surprised at the fact, questioning whether Wayne was in talks to sign to Jay Z as an artist or if the exclusive was a one off. Now, it seems that we have our answer.
Weezy revealed during his set that he has signed a deal with his idol Jay Z. Although some were initially wondering whether Wayne meant signing to Roc Nation or just a deal with Tidal, it seems that the latter is far more probable considering Cash Money is still holding Wayne hostage and he is not listed anywhere on Roc Nation’s website.
Looks like we can expect new Wayne music to come out exclusively through Tidal in the near future. What are your thoughts? Check out the video of the announcement below.
