What’s the word HHNM readers? Once again we’re back with a brand new edition of our Saturday Spotlight series, where we take the time to shed the light on 5 promising upcomers. Today, we’ll hear from Tony Del Fresco, Manny Monday, Calez, and Maad Moiselle. We hope you enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
Tony Del FreshCo
First up we have Texas’ own, Tony Del FreshCo and his brand new tape titled Bless Your Heart along with the lovely DJ OhSo. This EP was an ode to love and the loves that we have lost. Tony spits with a lot of passion and heart, and it’s very evident with this 9-track offering. If you’ll be at SXSW next week, make sure you catch Tony live!
Manny Monday
Manny Monday released his newest track ‘Wimbledon Arena’ featuring a heavy melodic beat produced by fellow SOAR LOSER, Stewart Villain, along with an accompanying video. The visuals were shot and directed by Mac Shoop for Young Visionary, who captures the vibe of the song perfectly. On “Wimbledon Arena” Manny draws upon his struggles between choosing to continue to pursue his music career or return to college and earn his degree.
Calez
When it comes to positivity, this next emcee, Calez, is someone who simply gets it. In his new video for ‘Positive Energy’, the 2nd single to his upcoming project Ceito, Calez gives you a first hand look at what keeps his good vibes going — friends, Harold’s chicken, and plenty of arm flexing. Press play and hit the road with Calez and his Squad. Co-production came from Calez and R.A. Foster.
Maad Moiselle
Last, but certainly not least, is the beautiful Maad Moiselle and her debut EP Indigo. The 9-track project includes a lone feature from A$AP Ferg, and 8 original, heartfelt tracks. The intro, ‘Out Of The Bleu’, sets the tone for the entire project, while inspirational songs like ‘Fallin In Love’ keep us intently listening. This R&B songbird has very high potential, and you’d be foolish to not hit play below.
