How’s it going readers? Today’s Saturday and we’re back with a brand new edition of our Saturday Spotlight series, where we shed light on some hardworking upcomers who are making some promising moves. We’ll hear from Johnny Phrank, Sean Scott, Witty Rock and Wally Left, who all have great music for us to enjoy on this Saturday afternoon. Enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
Johnny Phrank
First up is Nashville’s own Johnny Phrank who drops off a hot new single titled ‘Jungle Alive’ featuring fellow Nashville natives Alocodaman. The powerful and captivating instrumental from producer Bandplay serves as a great backdrop for Johnny and the Alocodaman to do their thing. ‘Jungle Alive’ will live on Johnny’s upcoming EP Flight Risk and at this rate, it should be a great project. Take a listen to his new single below and get hip to the Nashville MC.
Sean Scott
New York’s own Sean Scott returns with his first release of the summer entitled ‘Talkin’ Bout’. The hard-hitting, yet musical landscape for this track was provided by Sean’s usual producer in crime Pav Bundy and mastered by. In this old-school, gritty track, Sean speaks on the derogatory statements that have been made about NYC as of late, the city’s sound, and how he feels about it. Enjoy the new track below and stay tuned for more Sean Scott this summer.
Witty Rock
Coming out of Baltimore, next up is Witty Rock who pays homage to a place we all enjoy at certain times — the ‘liquor store’. In this Trendsetter-produced banger, Witty Rock showcases his storytelling ability and does so in a dark way, giving the track more depth. This instrumental is pure flames and Witty’s sound is quite catchy. Not a bad combo by any means. Listen to the grimy track below.
Wally Left
Returning to the Saturday Spotlight stage, last but not least is Wally Left who drops off a new track titled ‘I Don’t Ball’ featuring his homie Preme. Being quite upfront about the situation, Wally lets us know that, well, he doesn’t ball. But, what Wally does do is make great, catchy music and ‘I Don’t Ball’ is further proof of such. Cleexshay on the 1s and 2s. Listen to the new track below and look out for Wally in the near future.
