[Saturday Spotlight] – Tony E, Fritzwa + Tokyo Trendz

sat spotlight

What’s up HHNMers? Today’s Saturday so we return with a new edition of our Saturday Spotlight series where we shine the light on some worthy upcomers who caught our eye this week. For this week, we’ll hear from 3 talented artists: Tony E, Fritzwa and Tokyo Trendz who give us some smooth audial remedy for the weekend. Hit the jump below and enjoy!

Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.

Tony E

Residing in the Big Apple, first up is Tony E who brings along a catchy set of visuals for his dope track ‘Let You Go.’ The Beacon, NY native pulls from personal experience as he paints the picture of post-breakup emotions from a male perspective, a subject rarely expounded on in today’s hip-hop. Shot through the lens of director Exhibition Z, the visual is a far cry from the cookie cutter videos currently circulating the web and certainly worth your view. Check it out above.

Fritzwa

The rise of the femcee in hip-hop is worth noting and thanks to upcomer Fritzwa, it continues to get better. Also residing from New York, the talented singer/rapper drops off a remix over Soulection producer IAMNOBODI’s ‘Ectasy’ and calls her rendition ‘A-Train.’ Fritzwa’s soft-spoken voice fits perfectly with the soothing instrumental and her flow is captivating. Look out for more releases from the future star over the next few months before 2014 ends.

Tokyo Trendz

Last but certainly not least is Virginia upcomer Tokyo Trendz and a brand new video for his awesome track ‘Next2U.’ Fresh off the release of his latest project Infinite, Trendz thought this trippy set of visuals was worth highlighting, especially for one of the standout tracks on the aforementioned project. Fellas, grab your girl for this one, and ladies, grab your girlfriends, because this one’s for you. Check it out above if you don’t believe me.
