Happy Saturday! It’s been a while but this weekend we’re back with a brand new edition of our Saturday Spotlight series. This is all about stepping away from your favourite rappers’ music for a moment and taking a look at some promising up and comers in the game. This time around, well be checking out LUKA, Dom Deshawn and Iman Europe.
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
LUKA
Our first pick is a rapper from Baltimore who goes by the name LUKA. The song we’ll be checking out is ‘Make It Bruh’ which he not only spits over but produced too. It’s a feel good song about success that has us curious about what’s to come in the future. Watch his self-directed visual below to see why we’re interested.
Dom Deshawn
The next up is Dom Deshawn whose ‘Listic Muzik’ (The Ride) joint produced by Curtis Williams from Two-9 is his form of paying homage to his favourite Outkast album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. The track will appear on Dom’s forthcoming Noir EP which is due in late Spring and is set to have a dark tone. Listen below.
Iman Europe
Last but not least is NYC born, LA raised artist Iman Europe. Iman recently dropped her Caterpillar EP after a successful SXSW marketing campaign where her and her team handed out caterpillar shaped USBs to spread the word about her music. The EP is 5 song long and as described by the rapper herself, is based on the “creative who dreams higher than they can reach”. Check it out here.
