Hello, HHNMers! Today marks the very first Saturday Spotlight on the brand new HHNM 3.0, something we’re super excited about. In case you’re unaware, every Saturday we put a spotlight on a few up and coming artists, who we think deserve a look. This week, we’ll check out Kelow, Drique London and Latrell James. Enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
Kelow
Our first pick is D.C. rapper Kelow, who just let go the anticipated semi-animated visual for ‘Finna’. It was shot in California and the track is a perfect example of a style which she seems to have already mastered — an autotuned and lazy flow that gives off a mellow party vibe. Watch the 8th Creation Films production below.
Drique London
North Carolina has some great undiscovered talent and one of the ones to keep an eye on is Raleigh’s Drique London. Here he shares ‘Laybach’ featuring Carrington on the hook. The song is produced by Majestic, and Drique boasts a stream of deep and conscious thoughts through an effortlessly comfortable flow. Listen below and look out for Sounds Of The Rising Sun coming soon.
Latrell James
Lastly, we look at a rising artist from Boston by the name of Latrell James. His song ‘On My Own’ is an important step in his ascension, with him realising that he is in control of his own destiny and that he needs to leave negativity behind. The infectious hook and insightful verses are impressive to say the least. Check it out below.
