Here we are with a brand new edition of Saturday Spotlight which we at HHNM really look forward to every week. To make it that much better today, this is the first SS of the Summer! To help us celebrate, we’ve got fresh music from Tim Stacks, Parkway, Da YoungFellaz, Bizz-E BlazE and Ben G.
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
Tim Stacks
First is Charlotte rapper Tim Stacks who comes through with ‘The Formula’ on how to make it in the industry today. The song itself is produced by Bahzilla who is a 90 Vanguard producer – you can expect more of that collaboration in the near future and we’re happy about it because Tim Stacks switches up the flow effortlessly over the hard hitting production. Expect rappers to copy the formula. Check it out below.
Parkway
Next up is an EP from Virginia rapper Parkway. Even though it’s Summer, you have to balance out the fun, party music with some dark stuff to ride out to and this is just that. The Aura project boasts production from Eric Dingus who is affiliated with Drake’s OVO so if you’re a fan of that moody, atmospheric style, this is for you. Listen to the EP which HypeTrack premiered below.
Da YoungFellaz
New York duo Da YoungFellz consists of Bronx native Jay Storm and Brooklyn native Sho-Biz. In two days they’ll release The New York Times, a project which will see them rap over classic instrumentals from the 90s which have been flipped. If that sounds good to you, here’s a preview of it and the chosen track is Biggie’s ‘I Love The Dough’ which features Jay Z and Angela Winbush.
Bizz-E BlazE
Our fourth pick is Bizz-E Blaze who hails from Brooklyn, NY. He’s currently prepping the release of a new project but continues to release new music which didn’t make it – although to say this is a leftover doesn’t do it justice. This new song is produced by BKorn who has credit on DJ Khaled’s recent single ‘How Many Times‘. Like he says, life is all about chances so take one and press play.
Ben G
Lastly comes Waka Flocka Flame’s latest signee Ben G who is from Carolina and naturally was affected by the tragic Charleston shooting. His latest song ‘Just Believe’ and its video is dedicated to the victims and it’s clear that he put his heart into this. Be G is currently working on Spanish Moss & Collard Greens which is a reference to the South’s cuisine. Watch the video below.
