Good afternoon, all! Here we are with 2015’s penultimate edition of our Saturday Spotlight series. Today we present 5Six2, Caleborate, Solo Young, Akee Fontane and Bomshot who aim to give you some theme music to the holidays. You can check them all out below. Enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
5Six2
First up is 5Six2 (ILL WILL) who hails from Long Beach, California. His new single ‘Kilo (Big Work)’ doesn’t sound like what you might typically associate with the West Coast but a new wave. If you’re looking for a different kind of white Christmas, look no further. Listen below.
Caleborate
The Bay Area has been put on a pedestal as of late with the success of G-Eazy’s When It’s Dark Out album and they aim to take full advantage. Caleborate has collaborated with G in the recent past and today he returns with ‘Hold On’ produced by Kuya Beats & Cal-A. Hear it below.
Solo Young
Thirdly comes Solo Young who is from Denver. It has been a little while since his last release ‘Empty Safe’ but he is gearing up to release the Thump In The Night mixtape pretty soon. He returns with the Ryan Alan-produced ‘That’s Ballin’ to get us prepared. Check it out below.
Akee Fontane
Akee Fontane is having a big finish to the year as he just liberated Can’t Be Young Forever, which hosted by none other than Don Cannon himself. It features Runway Rich and Young Dro (on the same song) but he releases a visual for his solo ‘Luv Me’ single instead. You can watch the video below.
Bomshot
Last up is Boston’s Bomshot who teams up with CokeBoy P and Lukey Don on his ‘UoWanF*kWimme’, an anthemic sounding record that could have been made by a Chicago MC. Bomshot will soon release Bobby Bugatti which features French Montana, 2 Chainz and DJ Khaled. Watch below.
