We can’t believe the year is officially coming to an end already but nonetheless, here goes the first Saturday Spotlight of December 2015. This week, the artists we present are Kingpen Slim, Drew Parks, Bless, Marcellus Juvann and Pat Toussaint. Enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
Kingpen Slim
Cuffing season is upon us and Northwest D.C. rapper Kingpen Slim intends to take full advantage. On his latest offering ‘L.A.N.’ (‘Love A N*gga’), he explores the highs and lows of relationships along with John Blu who handles hook duty. Stream the JustWhooKid premiere below.
Drew Parks
Drew Parks recently liberated his inspirational ‘OMW’ record and now he comes through with a visual. It’s very entertaining but socially aware video. Drew takes the role of a scientist who creates potion for you to get your weight up with some interesting results, but it also tackles the sensitive subject of bullying. Watch below.
Bless
Next up this week is Virginia upstart Bless who unleashes his Days After Financial Aid mixtape, which follows a slew of singles and even an in-depth documentary, making this a perfect introduction to the rapper. Below, you can stream the entire 13 track project which features Darrius Williams, Kia Burrell, Kayla Pinson and Patricia Harris.
Marcellus Juvann
One of Houston’s up and coming talents is none other than Marcellus Juvann who recently released his first ever project, The Fall. Appropriately, there are very few features on which allows Marcellus to be the focus and tell more of his own story. Check out the tape in its entirety below.
Pat Toussaint
Last but not least is Pat Toussaint who hails from the Tri-state area. A few weeks back, a song of his which will be featured in a Versace visual debuted on Hot 97 and now we welcome the CDQ version. It sits at 01:12 which means it will leave you wanting more. Listen to ‘Been Trill’ which is produced by Tony Spokes below.
