Happy new year! 2016 is officially upon us and last year was definitely a great year for music with some of the biggest in music releasing albums. As you might know though, our Saturday Spotlight series is for the lesser known artists who deserve a voice. To kick the year off, we present D.O.D., Dylan Cards, Billy Chambers, Ricky Mazarati and Resource. Enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
D.O.D.
First up is D.O.D., a trio consisting of Bleezy, K.I. and Vinde_Papers who hail from Brooklyn, NY. Their self-titled mixtape Definition Of Dreams was released last month and features some big names like Maino, Uncle Murda, Troy Ave, and Young Lito. Below you can check out their visual for ‘Trapper Of The Year’
Dylan Cards
Our second pick this week is Brockton, Massachusetts rapper Dylan Cards who released his debut project a few weeks back, a new EP. Now he returns with producer Knox Bass for ‘Hat Trick’, a reflective record detailing his come up so far. Check the score and hear the new single below.
Billy Chambers
Next up is 19 year old Billy Chambers who is currently prepping the release of Electric Love, his forthcoming debut album. He shares a new cut from it now with ‘Tonight’ which has an electric-influenced very happy sounding beat which is produced by EZRA. If you like what you hear below, stay tuned for the project coming soon.
Ricky Mazarati
Our fourth pick for the week is Boston’s Ricky Mazarati who is set to unleash his debut project Lost Hope a little later this year. Here, he links up with Chicago rapper Hypno Carlito for the visual for ‘You Ain’t Never’, shot and directed by Pxvce God Films. Take a look at it below.
Resource
Last but not least is Georgia rapper Resource who makes up half of FTGU (From The Ground Up). Today however, he liberates a solo EP by the name of Soul. From top to bottom, it was created in his bedroom. If you’re a fan of melody and rap mixed, look no further. Listen below.
