Here we are in August 2016 with a new edition of Saturday Spotlight. This week we have Lajan Slim, Bizzle, Al Rogers Jr., Ras Nebyu and Noochie. Enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
Lajan Slim
First up is Lajan Slim who is from Florida. He releases a visual for his song ‘Haitians’. He reps Haiti to the fullest, speaking the language in the song and bearing the flag in the visual. Watch it below.
Bizzle
Next up is LA-born Bizzle who releases a freestyle over Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s ‘All The Way Up’. He considers himself a Christian rapper and while that might put most people off, you shouldn’t be so quick to judge. He goes in over the Infared instrumental, explaining his own version of “going up”. Listen below.
Al Rogers Jr.
Thirdly is Al Rogers Jr. who releases a new track called ‘Shewoke’ which is produced by eu-IV. Al thinks that women’s duality must be appreciated more and this song aims to do just that. Check it out below.
Ras Nebyu
Ras Nebyu’s real name is Mebracknegodguwad Mahtemework so it’s safe to say he picked a more catchy Rap name. He is from Uptown Washington, DC and embraces his Ethiopian and African roots. His new song ‘STORY’ features The Arckitech and is produced by Corbin Butler. Hear it below.
Noochie
Last but not least is Noochie who is prepping the release of his forthcoming mixtape Product Of The DMV which is out in 10 days. To build hype, he drops a visual for ‘JEROME’ which is produced by RaRa and Mr. Williams and speaks on the murder of black men by police officers. Take a look below.
