When we did a list of the 10 mixtapes that we’d like to see on streaming services last year, of course Jeezy was included. Although he has several strong ones in his mixtape catalog, we picked 2005’s Trap or Die hosted by the one and only DJ Drama.
But there’s some good news today for fans of the rapper who know him more as “Young Jeezy.” Several of his highly appreciated mixtapes have now been released on streaming services for the first time. Yes, we are talking all platforms like Apple Music, TIDAL, Spotify and others.
Interestingly, no official announcement has been made about it by Jeezy or the DJs involved in the original releases like Drama and Folk. But we have found that some of his best ones like the debut The Streetz is Watching in 2004, 2005’s Trap or Die, 2009’s Trapping Ain’t Dead, 2006’s Can’t Ban The Snowman and 2010’s Trap or Die 2 can now be played on your favorite DSP.
A heads up: on Apple Music, some of the tapes are tagged under the artist name “Jeezy” while others are under “Young Jeezy.”
When we went deeper to find the source, we noticed that the releases that hit streaming services on Friday, Aug. 14 have come via a company named Agency 99. According to their official website, the company is associated with the Atlanta rapper and cites his Tequila Avion and the performance water company Defiance Fuel that he has a stake in, as some of its clients.
That should be enough to tell us that this deed has taken place with the blessings of the Trapper himself. Enjoy the musical weekend.
