Kanye Says Universal Released ‘DONDA’ Without His Approval

Kanye West’s 10th studio album DONDA is finally out everywhere after a lot of delays.

However, it seems like there are still some issues. The album went live on DSPs around 8 am ET on Sunday but Kanye had not posted on any social media about it. He has now taken to Instagram to claim that Universal Music Group, the parent label to Def Jam, released DONDA “without his approval.”

“Universal put out my album without my approval and they blocked ‘Jail 2’ from being on the album,” he wrote. He had previously shared some texts with his manager Bu and DaBaby where he claimed that DaBaby’s manager was blocking the release of ‘Jail pt. 2’ where the rapper is featured.

It’s difficult to say whether this is just a marketing ploy or something that ‘Ye is actually dealing with UMG on the backend as it’s hard to imagine the label doing something of this sort with one of their best selling artists. We’d had to wait and find out.

DONDA features Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Vory, Lil Baby, Playboi Carti, Chris Brown, Don Toliver, Pusha T, The Weeknd, Fivio Foreign and more while Swizz Beatz, Boi-1da, Dem Jointz, Mike Dean, Wheezy, 30 Roc, BoogzDaBeast, Cubeatz and DJ Khalil are some of the producers contributing to it.
