Nardwuar the Human Serviette, one of the most cherished and eccentric interviewers in Hip-Hop, has released his latest interview with 21 Savage. Littering the conversation with his favourite “you’re 21 Savage, we have to know”, Nardwuar proceeded to take the Atlanta legend down memory lanes at times he didn’t even know existed.
He presented the rapper with a poster of ‘Slaughterfest’, 21’s first concert in Atlanta with KEY!, and proceeded to reveal lesser known facts about the artist (and even his manager!) in his much adored, quirky trademark interview style. The two also spoke about the shooting of 21’s music video for ‘Redrum’ in London, 21’s mother working as a DJ in London in the nineties, as well as his upcoming tour.
While Nardwuar continued to stump the artist with the low-key happenings of their life and career, 21 was more reserved and concise in his responses. As fans point out, 21 didn’t say much aside from the recurring (and presumably zoned out) “Yeah”. The interview also comes at an interesting time, with 21 Savage being in Vancouver kicking it with Nardwuar as his close collaborator Drake continues his ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar. Whether we will see Drake’s presence on the tour or not is still a mystery, as is any comment from 21 on the situation.
