Prosecutors In Diddy Case To Drop Attempted Kidnapping, Arson & Some Sex Trafficking Charges

Prosecutors In Diddy Case To Drop Attempted Kidnapping, Arson & Some Sex Trafficking Charges

In a surprising development concerning the Diddy trial, prosecutors have now decided to drop certain key actions Diddy was being charged with. This comes in only a day before closing arguments find their place in the criminal trial of the music mogul.

More specifically, prosecutors have decided to adhere to Judge Subramanian’s instructions on “streamlining” jury instructions. This was mentioned in a letter to the judge by the Government representation.

While this is the official stance, it is also true that certain charges will prove difficult to back up. This includes the kidnapping of Diddy’s former employee Capricorn Clark as well as Cassie’s alleged confinement at the London Hotel.

Since Diddy was never substantially linked with the fire that damaged Kid Cudi’s Prosche, it is understandable, although surprising, that charges for arson are also being dropped by the prosecution. Aiding and abetting charges are thus being dropped from the sex trafficking claims, which are still being pursued save a few.

In letter to Judge Subramanian, the prosecution also emphasised on raising an important instruction they want him to pass: that just because women have given their consent once doesn’t mean it cannot be withdrawn.

Emphasis has also been laid on jurors knowing “neither physical restraint of the alleged victims nor commercial sex acts are required to prove coercion in sex trafficking,” as reported by TMZ. Things are certainly coming to a close as anticipation builds on a case that may have far reaching influence of the perception of sex trafficking and violence related cases. What do you think?
