50 Cent’s 5th album Street King Immortal still doesn’t have a release date but he is planning to release a new project in January to hold fans over.
In an interview with Huffington Post conducted during the launch of his SMS Audio headphones and speaker line at the flagship Henri Bendel store in New York on Wednesday night, 50 revealed that he will release a full body of work in January which will be “more than a mixtape” and “inspired in a whole other direction.”
While he didn’t offer any more details on title etc., the project could be called Animal Ambition as the rapper has been playing around with that title on his Instagram along with tentative artwork. He also revealed what he has been listening to lately:
“I’ve really been enjoying Big Sean’s ‘Beware,’ Drake’s ‘Started From The Bottom’ and I’m a Miley Cyrus fan.” On all the controversy related to Miley, 50 said “You can’t have artists just sitting in a box. Sometimes you build your own restraints and you prevent yourself from doing the things you truly want to do.“
Related #2: Pharrell on what a fully produced 50 Cent album would sound like:
Complex: Are you more interested in bringing back someone who cooled off, or breaking new talent? Pusha told me, “I want 50 to just get in the studio with Pharrell, just let Pharrell do the whole album.”
Pharrell: I would love that. But, you know, he would have to see why that makes sense…for himself. That doesn’t mean it makes the ultimate sense, I mean you know, people could read this and be like, “What?! Ew, no. Don’t fuck with Pharrell.” You know? I would love to make an album with 50 that felt like a film. ‘Cause he’s an actor. He’s an actor and a rapper and all these other things. I would wanna put all those talents together and try and make a cohesive body of work that was all about him. I’d just be Mario Puzo. I don’t have to be Corleone. I don’t have to be in it at all. I could just be the air in the room, which is just the storywriter or the backdrop. Cause he’s the storywriter.
