It’s official, Lil Boosie is a free man.
The rapper was released from the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola earlier in the evening today. Angola State Penitentiary Warden Burl Cain confirmed to news reporters that the rapper, whose real name is Torrence Hatch was transferred to a sheriff’s department facility in St. Francisville where family members were waiting for him.
Boosie had been serving prison time on drug charges in 2009 and his official release date was listed as May 20, 2014. He had also violated parole and was later slapped with a first-degree murder charge but was later acquitted of that in 2012. Boosie is set to remain on parole until 2018 and his label Atlantic Records is set to hold a press conference in New Orleans on Monday.
