Frank Ocean’s Father Suing The Singer For Defamation

Frank Ocean is being hit by a lawsuit by his own father.

TMZ reports that Frank’s father Calvin Cooksey has filed a Defamation lawsuit over a Tumblr post Frank wrote last summer in the wake of the Orlando massacre. In the post, Frank had accused his dad of using a homophobic slur when he was six years old.

“I was 6 years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a f***ot as he dragged me out of a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty,” said Frank in the note which can be viewed here. “That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t,” it continued.

But Cooskey is denying the claims and has sued the singer for $14.5 million in damages, claiming that the note “damaged his financial opportunities in film and music.”
