Texas veteran Bun B thinks Drake’s Thank Me Later (in stores tomorrow) could do half a milli in the first week of sales in the US. Bun was featured on Drake’s highly acclaimed mixtape So Far Gone and has also worked on a few tracks for his own solo LP Trill OG dropping later this year. Here’s what he had to say:
“It’s an incredible album, It’s gonna be a multiplatinum album. First of all, let that be understood: it’s gonna be a number one album in several countries across the world. If he does less than 500,000 in the first week, somebody dropped the ball at Universal [Music].”
Slim Thug also predicts the same kind of numbers while Juvenile thinks he could go a million in the very first week.
I’m definitely eager to see what kind of sales he will end up with in the first week. I think it’s critical that he does well, both for Hip Hop and music in general. Or let me put it the other way around: if he doesn’t, it’ll be very disheartening / discouraging for the labels & other artists. Especially new comers.
