It’s Saturday and without fail, we bring to you our 6th installment of Saturday Spotlight series. As you know, we created this series to aid upcoming artists and help present their talent to the world. To our satisfaction, the response has been very encouraging. For today’s spot we have Aquil and Sirah for you.
Check out all our previous Saturday Spotlight entries here.
Philly rapper Aquil focuses a lot on his lyrics and sophisticated sound. He’s due to release his debut LP titled Land Of Synth later this year and here’s the lead single from it titled ‘The Ritual’. To be honest, the production on this particular track is what won us over. Top notch sound.
Sirah is a female emcee signed to Atlantic Records who hails from Los Angeles and has a different sound than most female rappers in the business today. Some of her influences include Joni Mitchell, Big Pun, Black Thought, Erykah Badu & Lauryn Hill and if we have to describe her sound, we would say Electronic mixed with Hip-Hop. She recently released a new EP titled C.U.L.T. – Too Young to Die which is available on iTunes now. ‘Made It’ is definitely the standout track which appealed to us the most but you can download her entire project for free here.
