Back in November, Mannie Fresh and Yasiin Bey released a few videos which captured the two working on new music for a collaborative project called OMFGOD but no details were provided by either of them. But in a new interview with HHDX, Mannie has discussed the project and given us an idea of what the album will sound like. Mannie says it’s complete, will feature 10 tracks and most probably release independently.
âWe recorded way more than that. But rather than to [just] have somebody say like, âOh, wowâ â I think a lot of times when you do that you throw away music. So, I just wanna give people like ten bangers and letâs be out. Some of those songs, I feel like we should just throw [them] out there. Iâm that dude that think of songs to sample that no cats would ever think of. Thatâs one of âem. And, given the response ⌠I always read from bloggers what they checkinâ out, and people are like, âDude, that song right there [is the one].â But if it donât [make the album], believe me, we gonna put it out. âCause I mean, it would be a waste [if we didnât].”
“And I think thatâs the way the process should be. We should have fun. It was no stress; we didnât have no budgets from nobody, we didnât have nobody hanging over us, no A&Rs. It was just something that we decided to do. We had a couple of offers. But, [taking an offer], that just seemed like it would be defeating what we trying to I guess prove. And basically what we doing is saying we really donât need the big machine.â
