This is why SXSW is so amazing. American rock band The Afghan Whigs was playing a set at FADER Fort showcase at SXSW in Austin last night when they started performing a cover of Usher’s ‘Climax’. That’s when Usher came out of no where to finish the song — his first time at SXSW. “Surprise surprise“, the R&B veteran proclaimed after the song was done.
After warming up the crowd, the two acts played a short collaborative set consisting of cuts like Afghan Whigs’ ‘Somethin’ Hot’ and Usher’s ‘OMG’. You can watch the entire set after the break along with some photos of Usher’s experience in Austin. Usher appears around the 15:55 mark in the video.
