The first week sales projections for Wale’s The Gifted are in and as expected, he will debut at number 1 on Billboard with approximately 140-160k units. Wale is lucky to have a clear week because if his album came out on June 18th, he would have been behind both Kanye and J. Cole. The Gifted‘s first week sales are identical to his last album Ambition which debuted at #2 with 164k in November 2011.

UPDATE: Interestingly, J. Cole’s Born Sinner is expected to sell more than Kanye West’s Yeezus in the second week. Part of the reason may be that after all the hype has died down, the former has a better reputation amongst fans.
