It is expected that Jay-Z’s new album Magna Carta Holy Grail is platinum already, thanks to the newly altered RIAA rule. The album, which was released exclusively to Samsung users on July 4th has earned praise from both critics and fans, and is now available across the country through various retailers — physical CDs included.
Even though the album is on a lot of mp3 players and hard disks already, industry sources still project the LP to sell between 350-400k in its first week, based on information from pre-orders and other demands. If Hov manages to do that, he will secure his 13th number 1 album on the Billboard 200, second only to The Beatles (19) and more than any other solo act.

UPDATE: The new projections from HDD are in and they’re quite massive. MCHG is expected to sell 475-525k in the first week.
Ciara’s new elf titled LP is projected to move around 55-65k.
