Jay Sean has announced that he’s leaving Cash Money Records and will be independently releasing his new mixtape The Mistress II in November. Interestingly, he says that his heart isn’t into making Pop records and wants to go back to his R&B roots.
Jay tells Billboard:
“I had and still maintain a great relationship with Slim and Baby [CEOs of Cash Money]. They believed in me and my talent and our partnership obviously garnered a lot of pop success.” But Sean wants to go in a different direction artistically. “It got to the point where I was chasing pop success and ‘the smash’ when really my heart wasn’t in it anymore,” he says. “That’s not why I got into this game.”
He has also debuted a new video called ‘Tears In The Ocean’ which was co-produced by his wife and directed by his brother. Watch it below.
