Bobby Shmurda has found the wrong side of law again.
The ‘Hot N*gga’ hitmaker was arrested by New York City police last night along with several others. Kati Cornell, director of public information in the office of the city’s special narcotics prosecutor has confirmed to Wondering Sound that the arrests were “result of a long-term investigation” and that her “office has a sealed indictment against a number of individuals.”
She has also revealed that the investigation involved some violent incidents as well as narcotics trafficking.
Karen Civil reports that along with Bobby, members of his GS9 gang and Epic Records executive Sha Money XL were also arrested.
UPDATE: A video has surfaced which shows Rowdy Rebel being detained. Hit the jump.
UPDATE 2: Sha Money XL has confirmed that he was not arrested and has released the following statement:
“I was not arrested. They held me until they searched the studio then let me go. I signed these kids to give them a better way in life not to be dragged down by the media and gunned down by the 40 cops that raided the studio and pointed guns at me for working my job. You have no idea how this makes me feel or look when I’m one of the only few black men signing black artist from the streets and giving them a chance to do better in life.”
Bobby is now facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder, assault in the first degree, possession of weapons, intent to sell and possession of narcotics and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree on two counts. He is facing up to 25 years on the conspiracy charges and up to 15 years on each of the weapons charges. The bail has been set at $2 million.
Narcotics prosecutor says rapper Rowdy Rebel was involved in a shooting and later performed at Barclays center in the same clothes. The whole GS9 group was busted with 21 guns (pictured below).
UPDATE 3: An Instagram post reveals that Bobby Shmurda is home.
UPDATE 4: HipHopDX reports that Shmurda is in fact still in custody. The post was a publicity stunt.
