There has been an uproar after a photo surfaced of Jay Z and Beyonce in the Tidal office posing for the camera with rest of the staff, with fans accusing the rapper of pulling the race card but not employing black people himself. What they forgot is that the office is based in Norway and not in the United States.
However, in more important news, Tidal and Sony are struggling to strike a deal to keep Sony artists’ music alive on the streaming site. Bloomberg Businessweek reports that Sony is threatening to pull all of its artists’ music from Tidal, including Beyonce who is a co-owner of the company. How weird is that?
The problem is that Jay Z has yet to reach a deal on a contract with Sony who is asking for a large advance amount in return for the rights to stream its artists’ catalogues. Universal and Warner on the other hand have already made a deal with Tidal. If an agreement is not reached soon, Beyonce and other Sony artists’ music will possibly disappear from Tidal.
