The N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton has the box office cash registers ringing and its impact is being felt in the music too.
While the film topped the film charts for a second straight week, the group’s debut album Straight Outta Compton which was released in 1988, surged to number 4 on the Billboard album charts. It sold 44k copies this week which not many were expecting. This is N.W.A.’s highest position as a group on Billboard 200 since their Niggaz4Life album in June 1991.
Luke Bryan continued to dominate the charts as his album Kill The Lights sold 99k copies but Dr. Dre’s Compton album also sold a respectable 51k to hold the #3 spot in its second week.
We wish Eazy-E was alive to see this!
