What’s up, HHNMers? Between Drake and Future’s mixtape (or album?) and Fetty Wap’s self-titled album dropping, there’s a whole bunch of new music for you to listen to from huge rappers. As you know though, we like to dedicate a day every week to new artists so here is this week’s Saturday Spotlight. Today we have Parkway, Oy Boyz, Rellajamu, Yung Joey, Drew Parks and Ohana Bam. Enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
Parkway
Parkway liberated his Aura project a short while back and as well as being well received, it boasted production from Eric Dingus who is closely affiliated with Drake. As a birthday gift to himself, he released the YCImaging-directed video for ‘Man Doe’, a banger from the project. It compliments the eerie atmosphere of the song well, be sure to check it out below. Happy belated, Parkway!
Oy Boyz
We recently heard ‘Put It In Ya Face‘ from DC’s Oy Boyz and Bankroll Fresh and now two of the group’s members are right back with a new visual. It’s for ‘Do It For A Big Bankroll’ and is directed by 1st Impressions. The track is very high energy and the video supports that. Take a look at it below.
Rellajamu
Sins Of A Father is a lifestyle brand who will premiere a new website and compilation mixtape titled Sovereign this Winter. The first single from it is now here, ‘Instant Gratification’ by Rellajamu and produced by Dylan Tran. It’s a perfect song for the forthcoming Winter, with a grimy instrumental and Rellajamu’s raspy voice merging effortlessly. Listen below.
Yung Joey
The Ear Drummers record label has had a great year with the continuing success of Mike WiLL Made It and Rae Sremmurd’s rise in the game. Here, Slim Jxmmi of Rae Sremmurd links up with label mate Yung Joey for a remix of ‘Dat Pack’. Swae Lee makes a cameo too. Check it out below.
Drew Parks
One thing you’ll recognise about Drew Parks (formerly known as Drew32) as soon as you hit play on ‘OMW’ is that he is effortlessly melodic. Combine that with some very witty lines and one listen through is enough to have this stuck in your head. His next project Away We Go is due in the middle of October and this will have you anticipating it. Hear it below via GMAD.
Ohana Bam
Last but not least is Chicago rapper Ohana Bam who comes through with ‘Rest’ which will appear on Tree Up on October 23rd. Don’t let his hometown fool you, this is definitely not a drill sound. His style is very unique, with some Island flavour but not lacking with his bars either. Do yourself a huge favour and stream ‘Rest’ produced by D. Phelps and Webs below.
