Spike Lee’s new film Chi-Raq has been quite controversial ever since its trailer was released back in November. The film has seen its limited release in the US and already received criticism from people like Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, rappers Twista, Rhymefest and many more.
The film was also accompanied by an Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (buy on iTunes here) on December 4 which featured music from artists like Jennifer Hudson, Jhene Aiko, Nick Cannon and of course R. Kelly who joins forces with rapper Tink for an uplifting song ‘Put The Guns Down’ which promotes non-violence.
Said Kellz about the song:
“One man can’t do it by himself. I would hope that I have some type of influence out there on the younger and the older people. As far as violence is concerned period, put the guns down, put the knives down and, most of all, put the hating down. Love is going to get us through all of things we’re going through.”
