Ever since Frank Ocean’s new album Blonde has impacted, there was been a lot of talk about his song ‘Solo (Reprise)’ which features a rare appearance from Andre 3000.
On the song, 3 Stacks seems to take a shot at artists who don’t write their own verses and since Drake has been attacked on the subject lately, some of us thought 3 Stacks was talking about the Toronto rapper.
“After 20 years in
I’m so naive I was under the impression that everyone wrote they own verses
It’s comin’ back different and yea that shyt hurts me
I’m hummin’ and whistlin’ to those not deserving
I’m stumbled and lift every word, was I working just way too hard?”
But in an interview with Sway In The Morning show, Andre 3000’s Dungeon Family friend CeeLo Green has shot down the possibility. He reveals (around the 9:15 mark) that during a recent conversation, Andre 3000 told him that his verse on the song is actually 2 years old so it isn’t about Drake.
During the chat, CeeLo also introduced his new group and announced that Andre 3000 will be a part of the Dungeon Family reunion at the upcoming ONE Fest on September 10th in Atlanta.
