Frank Ocean’s latest comeback album Blonde has made a lot of waves due to the music but also because of the roll out.
The album, released on August 20th, had been an Apple Music exclusive for nearly three weeks before it hit the biggest streaming service, Spotify on Friday, September 9th. But it was worth noting that the album did not feature in the service’s New Releases section or the New Music Friday playlists.
It has been said before that Spotify has been punishing artists who agree exclusive deals with Apple, by excluding music from its playlists and burying them in the search results.
But today, users were surprised to find that the album was no longer available on Spotify. The songs appear on the service but are greyed out and un-playable. We wonder what’s going on behind the scenes.
