The Weeknd just released Starboy, the follow up to 2015’s Beauty Behind The Madness. He went on a big promo run for the album, including his first ever video interview with Zane Lowe, a short film and a TV performance. The album has been expected to perform well and the first week sales projections are now in.
He is estimated to sell 225k–275k copies of the album without streams and 350k–400k including streams. These numbers fall shy of the last LP’s which sold 412k in the opening week but the huge success of ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ and ‘Earned It’ have to be taken into account. It’s also worth noting that numbers can change slightly throughout the week. Be sure to check back to see what the final numbers are and support the album here.
UPDATE: The projections have now come down to about 340-350k SPS and 220-230k pure albums.
