UPDATE: Listen to the CDQ and full version of the song here.
If you weren’t aware, Nas serves as one of the producers of the Netflix series The Get Down which is in its second season at the moment. The series is set in 1970s in New York, giving an insight at the earliest days of Hip-Hop music and culture.
Nas has also contributed to the series with a new song titled ‘Angel Dust’ which was aired during its third episode a couple of days ago. It samples Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson song’s of the same name from their 1978 Secrets album. “We cut our losses, I had choices / I took a pen, became a voice for the voiceless / My people walking in a zombie state / Life is short, even mine’s at stake,” raps the legendary emcee.
Apart from this show, Nas is also prepping the release of Street Dreams, a BET show based on his life. Hopefully we will get the new album from him as well but in the meantime, listen to ‘Angel Dust’ below.
