Drake is an ambassador for his hometown team Toronto Raptors, but he is also a noted University of Kentucky basketball fan.
Drizzy made an appearance at Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness last evening, the much publicized event that marks the kick off of Wildcats’ basketball season. The rapper was seen proudly wearing a “Kentucky Dad” shirt. His appearance wasn’t exactly known to all so when coach John Calipari told the Rupp Arena crowd “Drake is on his way,” those present at the venue exploded with excitement.
Drizzy then took the mic to speak to the crowd. “I think it was 2009 when Coach first brought me out here, and it was one of the best experiences of my life,” Drake told the Rupp audience. “This family right here — you’re a special, special group. Make some noise for your team this year.”
The Toronto superstar then asked for a favor from the team — that they should let him come back to perform a free concert for the students. Watch his full speech below.
