Drake has been absolutely dominant in music ever since he debuted in 2009. From there on, he has broken several records on the Billboard charts already, including one for the solo act with most Billboard Hot 100 entries (154).
In August this year, his massive 430-week long stretch since his debut on May 23, 2009 came to an end. Since the debut of his hit ‘Best I ever Had’, the Toronto superstar has maintained a record Hot 100 attendance, appearing in at least one lead or featured role on each weekly chart to be published.
Today, we have another interesting stat discovered by Orbitz, which has been shared by the company exclusively with us. Drake holds the record for most weeks spent on the Billboard Hot 100 in its history, tracking it back to the first time the chart debuted on Aug. 4, 1958. Drizzy has spent a whopping 1068 weeks on the chart, more than any other artist ever. Following him are Elvis Presley with 985 weeks, Elton John with 954, Rihanna with 916 and so on. See the detailed chart below.
Orbitz has also compiled together some more interesting stats, including the city wise breakdown of the most dominant places in music. Turns out, New York is still the number 1 city at 11% whose artists have produced the most Billboard Hot 100 artists. L.A. is second with 7.3% while London comes third with 5%.
Despite all the talk this year, New York is still the number 1 city responsible for creating the most Hip-Hop hits in Billboard Hot 100’s history. As many as 86 Hip-Hop artists from the genre’s birthplace have gone on to create 236 songs that appeared on the prestigious. Atlanta is catching up quick, already producing 43 artists to appear on the Hot 100 charts. Interestingly, while the number of artists is half of New York’s, the quantity of singles is just 10 shy (226). See below.
