Rumors of a Prince hologram making an appearance during Justin Timberlake’s Halftime performance at Sunday’s Super Bowl had some fans quite upset. That is because Price was supposedly not in favor of holograms used after an artist’s death — “demonic” to be exact.
With the Super Bowl back in Minneapolis, there were several reports that it will happen after an NFL source confirmed to the Star Tribune that Prince will be a big part of the halftime show, appearing as a hologram. There was an outcry immediately from the Purple community. In a 1998 interview with Guitar World magazine, Prince was asked about the technology that could make posthumous collaborations possible. “Everything is as it is, and it should be,” he said. “If I was meant to jam with Duke Ellington, we would have lived in the same age. That whole virtual reality thing, it really is demonic.”
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES did we approve of this! Prince's music moved, NOW THIS! #Istand2protectthislegacy #prnfamily

Sheila E., Prince’s longtime friend and drummer, first tweeted her reservations about the plans after the rumors spread online. But now a little while ago on Saturday night, Sheila has confirmed that there are no plans for a Prince hologram. “Family, I spoke w/Justin 2nite and he shared heartfelt words of respect for Prince & the Purple fans,” wrote the musician. “I look 4wrd 2 seeing what I’m sure is going 2 be a spectacular halftime show. There is no hologram.” Rest in peace Prince!
