‘Lose Yourself’ — one of the biggest songs of Eminem’s career gets another official stamp today. The song has been certified Diamond by the RIAA for moving more than 10 million copies. Another Eminem single ‘Love The Way You Lie’ featuring Rihanna has also been certified 10x Platinum.
‘Lose Yourself’ was released in October of 2002 as the lead single from the soundtrack to his semi-autobiographical film 8 Mile. The song was produced by the rapper himself alongside Jeff Bass, one half of the production duo Bass Brothers, and Luis Resto. The song spent a massive 12 weeks on the number 1 spot of Billboard Hot 100 beginning Nov. 9, 2002.
The motivational ‘Lose Yourself’ which encouraged listeners to “not miss your chance,” became Hip-Hop genre’s first nomination for song of the year at the 46th Grammy Awards and also the first rap song ever to win best original song award at the 75th annual Academy Awards.
‘Love The Way You Lie’ serves as a single from Eminem’s seventh studio album Recovery released in 2010. The heartfelt song documenting a complicated love–hate relationship, was written by Skylar Grey and produced by Alex Da Kid. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks and quickly became one of Eminem’s best selling singles. It was nominated for 5 GRAMMY awards but failed to win any.
With this, the Detroit superstar now has three Diamond certified singles, the third one being ‘Not Afraid’ which was already recognized since 2014.
With the new certifications, Eminem is now the second highest selling singles artist in the U.S. at 107.5 million, only behind Rihanna. The next Hip-Hop artist in the list is Drake who is almost at half (55 million). See the chart below.
