What’s better than one magazine covers? Two.
SZA is the latest star to cover FADER magazine which has just released the two fronts of their “Earth” issue. In the cover story, the TDE songstress talks about not liking her own album as much as others did, losing the best new artist GRAMMY and more. Check out some excerpts from the interview as well as the high resolution versions of the covers, below.
SZA on her groundbreaking debut album, Ctrl:
I didn’t even fuck with my own album, so I was so confused and almost, like, angry that everyone fucked with it so much. It meant everything I felt about myself was wrong. And it was just like, If that’s not the truth, then what is the truth?
On feedback from Donald Glover:
I think when ‘Love Galore’ went platinum, Donald [Glover] texted me like, “Do you still think it sucks?” And I was like, “I dunno.”
On her recent Grammy losses, after being the most-nominated woman:
I’m not as mad as I thought I would be. I didn’t have any expectations, actually. That’s why I wasn’t super upset… Perhaps folks place too much importance on the entire situation in general, and place too much importance on the institution.
On a rumored new album with Mark Ronson and Tame Impalas Kevin Parker:
Shit, if I could sit down and make one… No, no actually, 2018 just started. Definitely. Actually, I could do that shit in six months.
On being the only woman signed to TDE, alongside Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q:
[I’ve] never even had this kind of dynamic before, like, it’s fucking crazy. And it can drive you crazy if you don’t just understand how to utilize it.
