Tory Lanez is currently celebrating the release of his sophomore album Memories Don’t Die which is looking like it will be a top 5 album on the charts next week with about 40-45k units moved in the first week. You can stream the LP here.
In an interview with HNHH, Tory revealed that Nicki Minaj was originally supposed to be on his single ‘Shooters‘ which we heard last September. The rapper actually recorded her verse too but a few words from Tory made her change her mind about the collaboration.
“She was on the record first and I was telling her something about the verse. I wasn’t saying it was bad or anything, her verse was incredible and I’m also like a super-Nicki fan. But I was telling her something and it may have came off.. Cause I was texting her and it may have came off in a different way. She probably read it differently than I said it… I think it maybe kinda came off a little bit arrogant or I kinda said something I shouldn’t have said about her verse and she was like “well n*gga, it’s just not that serious, take my verse off the thing.” We was like, “aight.” I love Nicki Minaj when it comes down to the music and the whole thing but I’m not like a reacher. Once a n*gga says it’s quiet, it’s quiet. I’m fine with that. I’m a great musician… Maybe in the future when the time is right, we’ll do something that’s right that we both feel comfortable with.”
