It looks like DJ Premier is a fan of J. Cole’s song ‘1985 (Intro To The Fall Off) as he decides to drop his own remix of the track today.
Titled as “DJ Premier 1966 Remix,” Preemo puts his classic touch on the song and infuses some new energy into it. Listen below. Upon its debut, ‘1985’ was dubbed as a diss song to Soundcloud rappers like Lil Pump and others. Cole later clarified that it was not meant to be a diss and even sat down with Lil Pump for an interview last week.
“I bought J. Cole’s KOD LP as soon as it dropped with no warning to the fans; which I too am a fan. ‘1985’ resonated with me immediately, so I asked Cole if I could get the Acapella and do an underground DJ version just for fun. He sent it and I just pieced some stab samples to keep it on some boom bap shit. Here it is!”
