When Nicki Minaj announced her retirement earlier this month, it took everyone by surprise. The timing seems off as not too long ago, the rapper had revealed that she’s putting finishing touches to her 5th studio album.
Nicki has been absent from social media too, pointing to the fact that she’s probably taking a back seat. But in a new interview with ELLE for their October cover story about her Fendi collection (spotted at Rap-Up) which took place before the retirement tweet, the Queen emcee has opened up about her album. She calls it “fierce, fun, and unapologetic.”
“It’s probably the most excited I’ve been about an album release in a really long time. I’m happy that we’re not making my fans wait for another album, like I’ve done in the past,” she said, referring to the fact that four years passed between The Pinkprint and Queen. “This one incorporates all the things people love about Nicki, but it also just has a way bigger sound, so it goes perfectly with the collection.”
We don’t know when her new album will arrive but the mogul is gearing up to launch Fendi Prints On, a 127-piece collection with Italian fashion house Fendi, in October. Nicki released her last single ‘Megatron‘ and music video back in June.
